GT (Governance Token)

What is GT?

A non-transferable ERC-20 standard token. The GT address is the same as the DAO address — it is one and the same smart contract.

The role of GT tokens in a DAO

At the very moment a DAO is created, governance (GT) tokens must be distributed among the DAO's members.

Any wallet holding GT has access to the DAO and can create and vote on any proposals. The quorum determines how many tokens are needed to activate any vote in the DAO. If all issued GT equals 100%, then achieving a 51% quorum will require 51% of the GT, distributed among the DAO's members.

Governance tokens cannot be sent to another wallet via a direct transfer. If tokens still need to be transferred — for example, if a member decides to leave the project — they must initiate a vote to transfer GT from their wallet to another.

So, the GT token is what makes you a DAO member. How does it differ from the LP token, and do you need to create an LP? That's covered in the LP Token section.
